Drafting a Turtleneck Pattern
Sunday, March 28, 2021, 12 - 3 p.m. Eastern Time
Patternmaking is one of the most empowering skills I’ve ever learned. Make patterns that fit your body, your style, and your dreams. In this one-session, three-hour, live virtual class, we’ll walk through the steps to draft an easy-fitting turtleneck pattern.
Based on measurements you’ll take from your body and from clothes you already own and enjoy, this scrunch-neck, long-sleeve top will keep you warm on all those chilly days. Meanwhile, the skills you learn will keep you inspired for years to come.
This class will take place on Zoom. You'll be emailed a link before class. The recording will be available for a limited time after the class.
No previous patternmaking experience is needed. However, some garment sewing experience will be helpful.
You’ll want to have some basic tools and materials on hand if you plan to follow along during the class:
2-3 t-shirts or other stretchy tops that fit you well
tape measure
ruler (preferably clear gridded 2” x 18”, but any ruler will work)
pencil, sharpener, and eraser
large sheets of paper (the back of wrapping paper will work, or you can tape together sheets of printer paper)
tape
sewing pins
paper scissors
cushy surface such as an old towel, rug, etc.
large, flat work surface (a large table or the floor)
access to a mirror
optional: yardstick, tracing wheel, notcher, square
